Anime Club

Anime Club is a casual group geared for adults that meets for snacks and discussion of anime, viewing a few episodes of a different anime each month that can be checked out at Salina Public Library to watch more of the series later. The public is welcome to come to one or all 11 meetings. The group meets every fourth Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Prescott Room. No registration is required.

2019 Club Schedule

“Beautiful Bones”
Jan. 23 | 7 p.m.
The story centers around high school student Shotaro Tatewaki and the beautiful Sakurako Kujo, who loves beautiful bones. Together they investigate various deaths. This anime title is rated TV-MA.

“Orange”
Feb. 27 | 7 p.m.
After a teenage girl receives a letter from her future self warning of the tragic future surrounding a classmate, she and her friends try to save the classmate from his terrible fate. This anime is rated TV-PG.

“The Ancient Magus’ Bride“
March 27 | 7 p.m.
Suffering a tragic childhood, Chise Hatori has lost all hope for happiness until a mysterious mage named Elias takes interest in her aptitude for magic and Chise becomes his apprentice. This anime is rated TV-14.

“Interviews With Monster Girls”
April 24 | 7 p.m.
A teacher named Takahashi Tetsuo is interested in learning more about demi-humans’ daily lives, whom he encounters, including a succubus, dullahan, snow woman and a vampire. This anime is rated TV-14.

“Recovery of an MMO Junkie”
May 22 | 7 p.m.
Moriko Morioka is logging out of real life and into the online world of gaming. Tired of the day-to-day grind, she’s giving in to the NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) lifestyle by devoting her time to the online game, Fruits de Mer. This anime is rated TV-14.

“Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood”
June 26 | 7 p.m.
After Edward and Alphonse Elric commit a taboo of alchemy attempting to bring their mother back to life, the brothers become involved in political schemes while searching for the Philosopher’s Stone, which is said to have the ability to help recover their original bodies. This anime is rated TV-14.

“Kino’s Journey, The Beautiful World”
July 24 | 7 p.m.
This is a story about Kino, who travels around the world with her talking motorcycle Hermes, having adventures and staying a short time in each place. This anime is rated TV-14.

“Re:Zero Starting Life in Another World”
Aug. 28 | 7 p.m.
After being transported to another world, Natsuki Subaru discovers a terrible truth — he can’t die, or rather, he can’t remain dead. Meanwhile he makes new friends, falls in love, and tries to be their protector. The anime is rated TV-MA.

“Tanaka-kun is Always Listless”
Sept. 25 | 7 p.m.
This series follows a high school boy who, despite multiple attempts from his friends, still manages to sleep and be the master of being listless. This anime is rated TV-PG.

“Parasyte, The Maxim”
Oct. 23 | 7 p.m.
One minute Shinichi Izumi is a normal teenager asleep in his bed. The next he’s been infected with an alien parasite attempting to take over his brain but instead, finds that the creature known as Migi has taken the place of his right hand; now they must work together to protect others. This anime is rated TV-MA.

“Bungo Stray Dogs”
Nov. 27 | 7 p.m.
Kicked out of his orphanage and starving, Atsushi Nakajima finds himself soon involved with the Armed Detective Agency, using inhuman abilities to combat crime. This anime is rated TV-14.
